Our second website for ARYA, this time for guests at their resorts in Indonesia. A new colour palette, a new tone — but built on the design system we created for the first project. And that's exactly why everything went so smoothly.
The design system we built for ARYA Properties was designed from the outset to handle more than one project. Resorts proved it — recolouring the entire system meant changing just a few global variables. No redrawing of components, no readjusting of proportions. A new palette — green instead of navy, cream instead of white — and the whole website has its own character. But under the bonnet, it's the same engine.
The first impression of a resort doesn't start at reception — it starts on the website. That's why we designed each key page as an experience in its own right. The resort detail page draws you in with imagery and atmosphere. The destination overview lets guests dream and compare. The room page shows exactly what guests will see from their window in the morning. And the wedding section has to convince couples that this is the perfect place for their most important day.
The ARYA Resorts website stands on the same foundations as Properties — but adds its own blocks: pages for individual destinations, room details, experience galleries and a wedding section. We designed every new element so that it also works retrospectively in Properties. The two websites enrich each other and grow together.
Some components came straight from Properties — price badges, CTA buttons, the map of Indonesia. All they needed was a recolour, and they kept working. But a hotel website also called for elements of its own: destination cards with a nightly rate, activity and experience blocks, discount sections and amenity counters. We designed each new element so that it can be carried back into Properties at any time — and vice versa.
Each of these templates received the same care as the one before. A hotel website demands attention to detail — from the right shade of green and the hierarchy of information to how the page behaves on a tablet in bed in a hotel room.
When we built the design system for ARYA Properties two years ago, we invested more time in it than a single project would have required. Today we know why. The Resorts website came together faster and more consistently — precisely thanks to what was already in place. And if another project comes along, it will be the same story.
